[Game Thread] UCF @ Louisville (7:30PM ET)
By - NighthawkRandNum
Classic malzahn 🤦🏽 ucf shoulda won that game... I'm glad he left Auburn WAR EAGLE 🦅
I said before the year, UCF really has like 4 games that will define the year. It was Boise, Louisville, Cincinnati and Memphis. UCF SHOULD be favored in the other 8 and in general have the better team. While Louisville wasn't great last year, the fact remains they simply were going to have better talent on the field than UCF. It's why a P5 game is usually much tougher for G5s regardless of the opponent.
Despite how it went I was actually pleased with the defense. Yes they had bad drives, but the defense did more than enough to win that game. They held Louisville to a 40% 3rd down conversion rate and force 5 punts, 2 ToD and an interception. UCF can't convert 20% of your third downs and expect to win games.
Disrespect to the ponies
That was a helluva finish!
I feel like Nastrodamus predicted this.
At the New City he is thoughtfil to condemn;
the bird of prey offers himself to the gods.
After victory he pardons his captives.
At Cremona and Mantua great hardships will be suffered.
It was Quasimodo who predicted it
You’re telling me you never pondered that? You have the hunchback of UCF, you also have the quarterback and halfback of UCF.
Slander if ya ask me.
I want it on the record that i picked us on the reddit pole prior to kick and it didn't show up.
1. Run the football like a normal team when you're right next to the field goal range
2. Throw an easy pass and take no risks
3. Bullet shot near double coverage and get the unluckiest "only God" bounce ever.
One of these is not like the other
Whehter or not they should have run, the throw was good. The guy was open. The WR absolutely cannot try to make a sideways one armed catch in that situation. You either need to fucking catch it or keep it down. Johnson tried to be cute and knocked the ball in the air.
gus malzahn just got gus malzahn’d
The Gus Bus just ran over the Gus Bus
i do not miss that man
Yeah watching boneheaded play calling like that shows why we had to move on.
The jury is still out on Harsin, but the on field production has been good so far.
harsin curses. he’s already cooler than gus so i’m on the harsin train.
Plus his daughters are t h i c c c c
Cincinnati will succeed (and go to CFP) where we have failed
You're just a Group of 5 school, play better teams, join a better Conference, and other random P5 bullshit
We needed to win for that to happen.
I mean, if Cincinnati beats ND they are probably 5
As much as it pains me to say it, I hope you do. I think you can. It has to be a flawless game though.
The thing is that ND is probably trash because they only beat us by 3 points in OT, and by the end of the season a win over ND probably won’t mean shit.
The thing is that ND is probably trash because they only beat us by 3 points in Ot
Welcome to YOUR knightmare, UCF. THIS is what we hated about Gus. Why call the exact same play after the timeout? Why a short pass to end the game instead of taking a shot at a Hail Mary? Why lateral when it has a very low rate of success? Gus got out coached at the end and he always will. Good riddance! Wish y’all the best though.
Yea it might not be great, but Heupel would have lost that game but a lot more. Deep balls weren't open because Louisville kept safeties back. Heupel would have kept bombing it downfield. With Heupel we lose like 42-14. Id' rather the offense at least be able to move when the defense is doing the one thing they can to stop you from doing the one thing you can do.
There is also the aspect that with Heupel we would never recruit well enough to win a game like that regularly. Malzahn can have a lot longer leash if he improves the overall talent level of the team. UCF isn't like Auburn where any jackass is going to be a top 20 recruiting class.
I’m hating this bus ride already and we just got out of the driveway
Birds with teeth are the superior form
I don't believe that exists in nature.
It’s a birds ultimate form
I wasn't sure the first time you said it, but I'm a sucker for repetition.
Hit me again.
It sounds like a shoulder issue on the UCF broadcast. He got carted off.
With all due respect, Ucf fans need to chill. It wasn't even a conference game and you weren't going to play for a natty.
You can fuck right off with that attitude. Nothing wrong with being passionate and wanting your team to win.
Damn bud. Have a cold one
With all due respect: who are you?
Almost the same guy as you
But people talk about us. I've never even heard of you.
Edit: My how the turns have tabled
He’s obviously that guy over there. Yeesh.
Cmon man, its football, theres only twelve games a season. After a long off season and a weird 2020. Dont get on people for getting into a game.
Not trying to get on people for getting into a game. I will be doing the same thing tomorrow night when georgia is most likely up by 28+ points. Just can't believe some of the shit I'm reading. And I said with all due respect!!!
With all due respect, dont.
You have to win every game when you're a G5 (we still are for a few years) or it just looks bad.
Yeah all these people with flairs that can lose two games the first half of the season and still be in the top 10 don’t know the devastation of a single score loss when “you weren’t going to the CFP even if you went undefeated.”
Yea these people don't know the struggle.
But hey, B12, we'll be there
Did we say UCF? we meant BSU sorry
Cart coming out for dg
Hope he’s ok. The loss is whatever but I don’t like seeing anyone get hurt
You guys had way to many injuries this game. Sorry.
Someone said nine starters. Woof
Bless. Just a game at the end of the day
I’m optimistic about Trevor in Jax (that’s my NFL home team). Hope he gets the supporting cast (and experience) he deserves
No we aren’t stfu
That was a great game.
In south beach everyone was watching that pick six
What happened to Gabriel though? Did he get up?
Cart coming out
Looked like a collarbone.
Our passing game was atrocious.
That’s the Gus Experience.
If Dillon is injured it would be the worst way to ever lose a game
Nice for the coach to say hi to his Mom and Dad.
Shouting out mom and dad like this is his first TV appearance
Go to bed UCF fans
Lol you literally have no flair. Get out of this subreddit
First things first: I really hope Gabriel is okay, injuries suck, and yall are a fantastic team.
Secondly: What a fantastic game! Ya'll are fun to watch, UCF. I mean it was incredibly stressful, but my God what a game.
And finally: Lets goooooooo! We needed this win so badly. We needed this as a fanbase and as a team. What a fucking win and what a fucking game. God damn did we need this
You guys deserve to win with a qb limping the whole 4th quarter.. gg
Now beer or whiskey. Wait I think I know the answer to that already.
Bourbon is the answer. Always.
Was hoping for OT tho
Gg Louisville bro! Definitely earned that win
Your QB stepped up today.
We needed that 2013 win, good game!
We did not play well and have a bunch of injuries. Your team definitely played better. Congrats on the win. Yall definitely earned that one
Cheers, man. Enjoy a beverage.
Man once the first forward lateral happens a player should boot the hell out of the ball out of frustration so it can be recovered in the endzone for a TD that would get called bsck.
Every book should offer this as the last play at +10000
… so are we good? Or does transitive theory not apply here
if we're in the mix..., you're never gonna get the favorable transition. More likely the narrative is now that all 3 of us stink.
Week 2....not enough data.
This is week 3 tho, no?
Point still stands
Yes, you have a decent defense. Versus Oklahoma tier last year. Darkhorse for the SEC west right now.
Well we got out coached so I don't know if you're good or not. Maybe.
Louisville coach could have a second career as an auctioneer.
Well that sucks
I don't understand why UCF doesn't run it after the INT. They need like 5-10 yards for a field goal. They had been running all over Louisville the previous scores.
Said the same. You either win or it goes into overtime. We lost that one. Louisville didn't win it.
We may be seeing why Gus got the boot from Auburn.
It’s odd, you’d think a coach like Gus that likes to run the ball wouldn’t call a quick slants like that
After the fake punt was the bigger what if. They were gashing them, had time, and went with three straight passes to go 3 and out.
Same. What the FUCK
Congrats Louisville on defeating the defending national champions
Hey 2017 called. They want their joke back
We claimed a national championship in 2020? Weird. I didn’t see that.
This joke is 3 years late
I would hardly call it a joke, I'm a hack lol
This man is very Kentucky. I don't know what I expected
Satt? He's an NC/Appalachian mountain boy through and through
"God is good" not to UCF lmao
In fairness, they get to go back to Sunny Florida and we know how weather is gonna be here in Kentucky in a week or two...
Sunny Florida isn't all it's cracked up to be. (Although the weather's finally breaking a little here.)
God literally stepped in and said "not today satan."
“First of all, I want to thank the Lord Jesus for blessing my efforts and smiting my enemies. They should have prayed harder, because clearly their faith has borne no fruit.”
Good work, Gus lol.
the game is not over????? ....Refs:.... the game is over.
i hate my life and i want to die
Well, it’s been fun having an aneurysm with you all. Until next time.
LOL satterfield shouting out his mom and dad like he's a player
You would think the dude has been on tv before with that mom and dad shout out lol
Satterfield is decidedly weird
Three games in twelve days is some Bishop Sycamore stuff
How the fuck is DB hurt
That looked like a collarbone on a completely futile play. Ouch.
“God is good yall. I wanna thank God for crushing the dreams of UCF tonight for they are not good and righteous” -Scott Satterfield.
He clearly cared about who won this game. Jk
Chuck and pray!
Cardinals are my friend now
Birds with teeth unite
ESPN and Louisville acting as if Louisville just knocked off Alabama
It was a great game and we’ve been struggling.
We thought we were ass let us have this
yeah this game just bought satterfield at least a few more weeks, if not the rest of the season
beating UCF means you're not?
UCF has won as many games against Georgia as Georgia has against UCF. Stfu.
Not as much as we thought
Why are they rushing the field?
Beating an unranked team at home perhaps
You see us last year? You see us weeks 1 and 2?
Still shouldn’t rush. But it’s been a dark stretch in our football program and our AD in general the last half decade.
Don’t know if people realize how badly our fans needed this.
First time feeling happy about Louisville sports in… way too long.
Ending of this game was 50 shades of cray. Double bonk interceptions wowza
I don't think whatever gods there are have any interest in your team.
How am I supposed to watch the MD-Illi game after this??
With booze. That's my plan.
Kinda like watching a movie that's so bad that it's good
I can't help but laugh just seeing Gabriel clearly hurt laying on the field and everyone is just running out there and shaking hands
I was concerned. Not sure what's funny about a student athlete getting hurt.
Well chuckling in a sense of shock and disbelief that no one did anything to get him off the field first
Ah fuck man I just can't with this team
Three games in twelve days??? That seems wild.
Monday game Week 1, Saturday game Week 2, Friday game Week 3. Wasn’t an ideal schedule, for sure.
Ya it does seem a little squished.
Most teams play 3 games in 14 days if you start the count on gameday...so fairly normal I'd say.
Hmm guess it just sounds impressive when you hear it without thinking hahahah
Banger. Man I love football
If Gabriel's season is over on that last play I don't even know what to say. He was holding his shoulder/collarbone.
Wow my god that was amazing
Of course he throws his 20th checkdown pass in a hail mary situation.
Louisville should score 30+ points more
"What the fuck, God?" - UCF
DG getting hurt on a basically useless play describes this game
Gus needs to be fired asap
3 whole games and you feel like you’ve seen enough huh
Good job Louisville, hell of a game
Total ESPN move to go straight to the interview while a kid is still laying on the field.
What? Will he not get medical attention because a reporter is asking boilerplate questions thirty yards away?
You want a commercial break?
I mean. As opposed to doing what?
Going full Joe Rogan and interviewing DG as he's writhing in pain.
I'll give Rogan some credit when he did it to McGregor after his last fight. Dude was begging for it lol
You answered your own question.
Like keep the camera on the injured player? Cut to the booth and skip the interviews? I genuinely don't know what you expect them to do differently that would be reasonable and more tasteful.
Why the fuck did they throw the ball after the interception? Run it and get to field goal range. Stupid play.
Seriously, we were like one decent run from a field goal.
Damn Gabriel is down still
I’d like to say you’re welcome to everyone that I went to pee at a crucial moment and caused the interception…
