What is Yahoo Fantasy +
It's basically their premium subscription that includes advanced statistics etc. you can do a 7 day trial which I am doing. I currently use FantasyPros but was curious to see how this was.
Regardless though, even the non premium Yahoo recommendations seem to make zero sense.
I tried Fantasy+ last year with the 1 year subscription. It fucked up my draft this year because it only shows “composite” ECR and “ADP by diamond players” so I wasn’t seeing the same rankings as my league mates and it made it really hard to predict who was likely to come off the board before my next turn. I tried to cancel before my drafts and revert my account back but it wasn’t possible. Never. Again.
That’s what confuses me - all the ECR, Diamond Players, Composite Rankings heavily favorite one player, yet they recommend the other. I understand fantasy is luck and matchups etc. but it seems like their “algorithm” is straight up broken.
Their projections have been garbage as long as I’ve used yahoo. I️ remember one year/week where their projections had the receivers for a team catching 5 TD’s but their QB only projected to throw for like 2 TD’s. I️ knew then never to trust their projections
Keep track of who they recommended and then compare to results. For example, maybe you think it’s DK this week but they recommend Cooper.
What happens on Sunday? Maybe they were right, and if so, isn’t why you’re paying the subscription? Aka For their recommendation and not for confirmation bias
On top of this after 7 weeks you will have a large enough sample size to see if it’s a value added feature. Report back to is on that.
The trial is 7 days, so definitely not a large sample size
I thought it was a seven week trial seven days is worthless
Fantasypros does the same thing. You can't just take their word for it. There are multiple factors that come into play and the biggest one of all is luck. There's also common sense and things you learn throughout the weeks and have to make a decision. Perfect example. I played Ekeler and Everett last night thinking that they would have a big game. Ekeler didn't get in the endzone and they didn't utilize Everett. My opponent played Mike Williams and Kelce. Kelce was covered, not utilized or body slammed. Mike Williams was decent last year, but I remember times where I played him and didn't do anything and other times I benched him and he exploded. I also had CEH last year who got injured but before that seemed to be the guy. Take my words with a grain of salt I'm only a second year in the league, but I research a lot and have learned to take things in stride and go with my gut in the end.
\> they didnt utilize Everett
We're watching different games cuz he had 10 targets for 6 catches and 71 yards. If anything they overutilized him, which made him gassed in the end zone when the pick 6 happened
You know I knew I was going to say something and get corrected. You're right he did get more touches than I thought. Watching the game you know you want to see your players get the ball the most and it seemed like they were using Williams, Michel, and Palmer more often. I did see that he was gassed at the end with the interception. I stand corrected.
It used to be anything over 5 targets was awesome. Nowadays 7+ seems to be the threshold for confidence. Regardless, 10+ has always been "fuck yeah" tier of outlier, so i just cant accept any negative words about everett... besides him letting up the pick 6. Def him being gassed plus the coaching staff not lettinf him off the field via hurry-up offense
In what world was Everett not utilized?
Yes but it averages out hundreds of rankings across different sites to determine ECR. Logically to me this makes sense.
The recommendations are based off their weekly projected points. And we all know that is 100% bowl sheet.
