Woah

unequal_youngster

Such a trash move bro was clearly concussed

YepImanEmokid

Either that or selling like he's Dolph Ziggler

thedrizzle126

He's here to show the world

Jordanwolf98

I thought he was already ruled out for the rest of the game

Duffleman0609

It was an unsourced news post that was deleted

Jordanwolf98

That’s a damn shame because he shouldn’t be playing

VHBlazer

It’s that Fantasy Football doc Chao who just makes these proclamations based off the video. I don’t know why everyone meat rides him and acts like he’s always right. He isn’t.

StreetReporter

Carfar_Farcar

Bruh I wanna see Tua crush it but my man couldn't even walk after that push.

IcyAd9404

Goes to show the concussion protocol is bullshit.

DTFpanda

Don't worry, the league will review this incident and decide absolutely nothing needs to change.

awmaleg

“Player safety!” /s

ThatPunkGaryOak82

Seriously. He whipplashed the back of his head off the ground and **that** was his body's response? If I were a dolphin fan I'd be hoping they bench him and be safe.

solojones1138

Seriously this is sickening. He should be in a hospital not a football field.

CaptainSisko2099

Or maybe he's not actually fucking hurt

_Kv1

Yeah it's totally natural for his legs to go nearly limp after hitting the back of his head and trying to walk a few steps. Only a complete moron would think he was good to go after that. Wins over player health I guess though, can't be surprised

solojones1138

He couldn't walk after that hit. That's a concussion.

Betasheets

Internet armchair doctors are the worst

askingJeevs

And NFL Doctors are the best?

Kingslayer2779

They’re more likely to be right than Reddit doctors

mrtomjones

You don't need to be an armchair doctor to know he got concussed there dude. There are basic obvious signs when you smash your head on the ground and literally can't stand up

thecaramelbandit

I'm a real doctor and think he shouldn't have gone back out there.

[deleted]

[удалено]

derstherower

This sounds like a bad idea.

Firstolympicring

Horrible fucking idea and pretty shitty from the whole coaching staff. This mentality of win or die needs to, well, die

The_Dogman1

Aren’t there outside neurologists who examine for concussions? That being said, I’ve never seen a player that woozy after a hit go back into a game

thewindupbirds

There was that time Big Ben clearly had a concussion, they put him back in and he threw and interception then threw up

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ibewye

Feel like 50% of Cam Newtons career was played concussed in game. Dude took hits and just didn’t come out

Chadme_Swolmidala

That opening game in Denver the year after our Super Bowl run was sickening. Took two or three (unflagged) shots to the dome.

Silverflash-x

Davante Adams took a huge hit against the 49ers last year, went completely limp after the hit, and they brought him back during crunch time in the last minute of the game.

Csquared87

There's supposed to be. Doesn't always happen. I'll never forget when a clearly concussed Wilson walked to the blue medical tent, literally dipped his head in for half a second, and then rack back on the field

Dongsquad420BlazeIt

Hopefully we don't look back on today as something that ruins him Edit: Well

Zeckzeckzeck

Yeah, there’s no way he’s “fine”. Like, stop toughing out fucking brain injuries.

Victor_Von_Shroom

Do you have info the doctors are not privy to?

BigPeeOn

Ethics, mostly.

Victor_Von_Shroom

You think independently paid Neurologists are unethical? What are you basing that on? It's a pretty bold accusation.

BigPeeOn

Well the fact that they're letting clearly punch drunk Tua back into the game for one, obviously. The NFL, who pay them, having a well documented history of covering up the severity of head injuries for another.

CaptainSisko2099

Or maybe he's not actually injured.

deesmutts88

He got up, stumbled, walked 10 yards, stumbled again, *fell over*, then had to be helped to stand upright. If a fighter did that the fight would be called off. It’s clear evidence of a concussion.

Junkee2990

??? Can you explain how you saw the dude not able to take more than 3 steps and say he wasn't injured??

kevco

https://twitter.com/NFL_DovKleiman/status/1574101102072631297?s=20&t=7Afq0kpKcQJK0ZdDKv9sGQ

Victor_Von_Shroom

We all saw that. Do you think the doctors didn't see it?

thedrizzle126

NFL Reddit in a nutshell. Everyone down voted this comment, your next comment is up voted equally saying nearly the same point lol

z-whiz

You know the dolphins staff has no say in if he has a concussion, right?

thisguy161

They have a say in putting him back in the game or not, which has been everyone's point.

Yolectroda

Just a slight correction. The exams in the concussion protocol is done with the team doctor and an "unaffiliated neurological consultant" (non-team brain doctor), and they have to agree to let him back in. So the team doctor does have "a say", but it's equal say as the unaffiliated doctor that can also reject players from going back in.

z-whiz

I didn’t know that. Thought it was just the third party dude. Thanks for the explanation! FinsUp

Percinho

But they could look at it and say "putting him back in is a stupid decision." I don't think I'd actually expect any organisation to actually do that but it really would be the sensible option.

Leftfeet

I don't think you need a doctor or medical staff to tell you it's a bad idea to put a guy back in after he walked like a drunk after the last hit he took. That just seems like common sense to me, but what do I know, I'm not a doctor.

Percinho

It feels like an absolute failure of everyone involved in the decision.

CaptainSisko2099

Or just maybe he's not actually fucking injured. Seems to be lighting your team up with no issue

soberkangaroo

Lmao the people that can watch him walk off like that and then say he’s not injured have incredible cognitive dissonance im almost jealous

danielbauer1375

Exactly. You have no idea what you’re talking about, but if there’s any website that likes commenting on things they don’t understand, it’s Reddit.

Leftfeet

The NFL has such an incredible history of watching out for the health of players, I definitely should trust that they made the right decision. It's not like they've spent millions covering up the significance of head injuries or something.

Firstolympicring

They do have a say on letting him back in the despite him looking like Bambi on after the hit

LeMaoZeBron23

Yeah but I need my daily I hate my organization comment

kevco

https://twitter.com/NFL_DovKleiman/status/1574101102072631297?s=20&t=7Afq0kpKcQJK0ZdDKv9sGQ

TheOverBored

Yeah, this is pretty gross by the Dolphins. Doesn't matter if Tua feels 100%, the dude couldn't stand after that hit.

Florida__Man__

There are neurologists independent of the team that make this call. But go off on the coaching staff, lol

AbstractCuriosity

Coaching is still allowed to bench him though

Yolectroda

Why do we want the coaching staff to veto the doctors?

Ok-Clock2002

"If he dies, he dies" - Miami coaching staff.

LeMaoZeBron23

Go blame the independent neurologist

thisguy161

Didnt know neurologists made substitutions.

NevermoreSEA

The NFL is a fucked up place.

Maj0r_Ursa

Can’t let the Chargers be the only team risking their QBs health today!

ChinChillaGames

Straight up medical malpractice

matthewryan12

Tired of the league talking about player safety and then doing shit like this. Wasn’t a single player in the league that wanted 17 games either but the crusty old owners wanted more $.

A_Lone_Macaron

LMAO this leagues protocol is a joke

PhAnToM444

“What year is it?” “Honestly after covid who really knows what year it is anymore?” “What’s your name?” “Tua… uh… I can’t pronounce the rest of it either” “He seems good to go”

bolbi-stroganovsky-

“Recite the alphabet backwards” “Shit, I couldn’t do that if I was sober”

Coffeeandsoda

He was able to spell his first name after a few tries, so the league green-lit his return.

RogueDivisionAgent

He said "Man, Woman, Person, Camera, TV"

WAR_T0RN1226

Excuse me, it's: person, woman, man, camera, TV

RogueDivisionAgent

Apparently I have dementia

bobthebobofbob

"Tua spell your last name correctly and we'll let you back in" "..." "OK, spell your first name and we'll let you back in? " "..." "OK, what letter does your first name start with?" "T?" "Alright, he's good. Go get 'em, big guy!"

legend023

I can’t even spell it on one try so he’s clearly fine

derstherower

2uh

pm_me_dirty_planes

Actually Tuanigamanuolepola but who's counting.

blazingpelt

With his name, that's pretty valid tbh

EternalSeraphim

Only if it's his last name. If it was just T-U-A then I have doubts.

TheLogicalErudite

Tuanigamanuolepola Tagovailoa is his full name. Tua is just a shortening.

Mobleybetta

That’s just bullying from his parents, imagine trying to spell that in kindergarten

TheLogicalErudite

Hearing the stories about his father, I don't put it past him.

GeckoRoamin

Of all the crappy things his parents did, I don’t think giving him a cultural name (and one that can clearly be shortened) is one of them.

Easy_Money_

yeah wtf lol terrible take from that guy not every culture’s default name is Mike

EternalSeraphim

Lol, I would fail a spelling test on that name, not to mention after a concussion.

Thegreatgibson

“U-A-T” Medical staff “….” “oh I thought you meant alphabetical order” “he’s clearly fine, put him back out there”

AlericandAmadeus

“He was able to remember what day it was after we told him his name, job, where he was, and who we were. Send him back in”

ccroz113

Honestly for only him that should be allowed

buythetulipdips

"Tua do you need to go to a hospital for more medical attention?" "To..a..?" "Alright the kid at least knows his name, you're going back in."

LilKaySigs

“Blink once if you’re not concussed” “Alright get the fuck out there you got a game to win”

CapnZula

That’s just irresponsible

Zloggt

“Seeing double means you’re *twice* as likely to find the receiver, you know!”

Whatismyidderp

This really sounds like something a HS coach would say 😂

TigerBasket

Here's a shot of Vodka good luck bud

Bladex20

They want him to die out there?

SteggersBeggers

This is a joke

SmokeyBare

He's thowing... a potato. He seems to think it's a football.

BuffaloKiller937

Seriously? We all want to see Tua and Allen go at it but cmon the dude was literally collapsing on the field

wsteelerfan7

There's a small chance he also hit a nerve or something when his back hit first? That's the only thing I can think of but he basically wasn't even supporting his head anymore when they pulled him off the field.

Kilen13

That's what came out in the second half. He had a back issue after an earlier sack that was bugging him and when he went down again his back seized up completely

PhAnToM444

“We care about player safety”

talix71

Hey, they played a commercial about caring! What more do you want?

staymelooo

Nah man this is malpractice

TigerBasket

This could kill his career or him, this is fucking absurd

Swarzey

There's absolutely no fucking way he cleared concussion protocol.

AssassinInValhalla

That seems unsafe?

eagleguy12

God bless player safety 🙏🙏

Duffleman0609

They said he cleared concussion protocol on tv for anyone wondering

Significant-Sink7030

You see that video of him unable to *walk* ? What a joke

spndl1

Protocols are theoretically good if they're followed correctly, but some things should just automatically fail a player, like being unable to walk off the field under your own power after a blow to the head.

Serialthriller69

Fast forward 4 days. Lol yikes

Dmriskus

The protocol is clearly a joke

JEspo420

They said this about Sterling Shepard and he in fact had a concussion

RogueDivisionAgent

That is 100% bullshit

sA1atji

I really would love to know the protocol: question 1: Yo, you wanna play? \*if player says yes, ask question 2\* question 2: Are you sure? Well, we did everything we could do, let him back in.

QuantumFreakonomics

Ok, so what *is* the concussion protocol? I know medicine is complicated, but its not that complicated.

Ih8TB12

Tired of hearing how NFL cares about it's players now. No way he should be in - if I saw Allen stumble like that I would be furious if they put him back in the game.

BirdLaw_

Alright everyone is freaking out about Herbert going back onto the field after his injury, but this is truly a terrible idea by the coaches.

MurDoct

Wait what

VHBlazer

Bruh what

AleroRatking

What????

shaqfearsyao

Not worth it

Nentendo63

Concussion protocol is a sham.

lopea182

This ain’t it, Mike.

Max_Power742

I thought the protocol essentially forces you out of the game. Especially since it was obvious something was wrong.

Pythnator

The league can’t pretend that it cares about player health when he comes back after the way he walked off. The protocol needs to be stricter, and badly.

Arcanorum

I would love it if Tua was totally fine and ready to play, but I do not believe for one second that he is not concussed. So much for player safety.

New-Pollution536

Same…this game is an absolute injury clusterfuck

PlagueisTheSemiWise

This is some fanfic shit right here. Hardcore gamer mentality.

RustyLickRich

Apparently he came out of the tunnel during halftime with his helmet in hand just to pump up the crowd. That seems right out of some fanfic.

CaptainAwesome8

“uh Tua, I know you’re a gamer and uh and all this and, uh you know, I’m just thinking maybe out loud as far as in your shoes right now like, we’ve done all the thinking we can do, we’ve done all of the game plan we can do, maybe, maybe, you know just fuck it, we’ll just go into it next year and not think that anymore and just win this thing when we don’t think that much. Am I on the right path at all with this? Like maybe you guys just think a little too much” “…..no”

troglodyte

This pasta transcends the NHL, best question of all time and Mack with the perfect answer.

oShaqnads

Nfl proudly announced the least concussions last year though!

Coffeeandsoda

Ugh. I wouldn’t be putting him out there. Safety is more important than any game.

EternalSeraphim

Especially for your fucking franchise QB. If it was Josh I would be furious.

RustyLickRich

Must've rubbed some dirt on it.

zi76

He looked very much concussed...

Paradigm6790

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh I'm no doctor but... Idk man.

maalbi

No no no

Badger623

nah fuck you if you let him back in after what we just saw

MidgerSpark

The man could barely stand, tf?

The_Keebster

He got that Dawg in him

Manadog

3 teddy snaps cured that concussion quick

Florida__Man__

Reddit: knows more than neurologists independent of the dolphins on concussions.

dlax15

At what point is the NFL going to care about head injuries. No person in the world wobbles like that unless they have a severe concussion. Just irresponsible.

New-Pollution536

They made a big deal about those cushioned helmets in the offseason but I guess once the regular season hits all bets are off

jslvde

While I do agree he shouldn’t be playing…I’ve watched UFC quite a bit and I could be wrong but I don’t think every single guy who gets wobbled or knocked out has a concussion.

dlax15

The UFC and the NFL, known for never lying about head injuries … lmao

jslvde

Not disagreeing. There’s more than known in both. But I’ve been punched hard enough to not have my bearings and I didn’t have a concussion. Wobbly legs doesn’t mean definite concussion is all I’m saying.

dlax15

I hear ya, maybe it is possible. I think we can both agree that Tua probably shouldn’t have been back that quickly.

Johalak

Dude literally couldn’t stand the concussion protocol is a joke

tantornado

Let’s get this W. Surely they wouldn’t let him do that if he failed the concussion prorocol

EternalSeraphim

I mean, the fact that he's back means he passed. The question is, should he have?

ThatRuckingMoose

If he was throwing a baseball then we'd know he's in trouble.

0dias_Chrysalis

Tua says this is his time to be a movie character

Kamino86

Wouldn't be surprised if they just waved some salt in front of his nose and gave him a pat on the back

Slacker_75

NFL Concussion Protocol is a complete farce

kvlr954

Get him the wheelbarrow, my man Tua has no quit!

Serialthriller69

Lol these two concussions will change the NFL forever.

xontinuity

First pass was a dime. Seems like he's fine which is good.

AnEmptyKarst

Concussion protocols are fake lol

I_Am_Day_Man

How??

malmal412

The madlad. Hope he's actually OK and not just being brave/stupid.

New-Pollution536

It’d be on a team doctor being stupid I think…I don’t believe the player really gets a say

OscarGold017

What the fuck

Gam3fr3ak96

Guess you can just bully the doctors to let you do whatever you want.

SnapperMaster

Tua Wobblevailoa

ScrubbyOldManHands

Didn't the same kind of thing happen to mahomes last year or maybe the year before? He was visibly dizzy after a hit but they claimed it wasn't from a concussion if I remember right. I didn't buy it then and I don't buy this one if they throw Tua back in.

Led_Halen

It might hurt ratings. Get him back out there!

AnAppariti0n

Another failure of NFL to not protect its players, one of the most obvious concussions I’ve seen and they still let him back out

the_not_so_shy_guy

Without any context on what happened. This sounds like a normal occurrence in a football game.

RockEmSockEmRabi

Concussion protocols are more of a suggestion than a rule

headrush46n2

it was nice of the bills offense and miami defense to help him out by letting him sit on the bench the entire 2nd half.

DrSeuss19

Oh few, i thought he was throwing grenades. Thank god they added that final detail.

Admirable-Angle-4174

There's an awful lot of Bills fans in this thread with concerns about the concussion protocol, funny that.

EternalSeraphim

Hey man, if that was Allen I would be pissed. One game isn't worth his career.

deadmoosemoose

Everyone here saying this is malpractice, like the doctors don’t know what the fuck they’re doing. I love Reddit.

New-Pollution536

It’s definitely happened with at least case keenum since they added the concussion protocol…dude had no idea where he was and finished out the game

walkingdisasterFJ

Oh they know what they’re doing alright

taeking106200

He didn't even know where he was why

Monarchist96

Didn’t know there were so many doctors in the NFL reddit, amazing.

Jaymanrockin

People getting mad over something they know nothing about. The team doctors know more than Reddit experts.

zimman101

This is a bad look for the NFL

lmHavoc

Uhh this kills the fish? He should not be allowed anywhere near the field.

NontransferableApe

We sure have a fuck ton of doctors in this thread
