Quite possibly one of the scariest pokemon that isn’t a legend or ghost. This fucking thing is just a massive plant that devours things and dissolves them with acid. Hoping it comes back for this gen.

jakuvious

And in the anime, instead of saying it's name, it just fucking screams.

SuperstarTraxRecords

The anime really impresses upon you how god damn massive it is too. It’s bigger than a damn rhino.

Stewbodies

The anime and Legends Arceus fulfill my love that other games have neglected: absolutely massive pokemon. Gimme megafauna, like that chemically altered Tentacruel and that shadow of the Dragonite that appeared at the lighthouse. And the Charizard the size of a truck. I'm going through Legends Arceus and I can't get enough of that comically large Bibarel, most of my Pokemon switch around but that one has remained in my party forever

pmatdacat

Getting big Garchomp towards the end of the game was a treat. Really hope they bring it back in the future, because it's really fun.

Stewbodies

I keep accidentally killing that Alpha Gabite when I try to catch it, someday Big Garchomp will be mine!

OriginalName18

Not catching it but watching my little togepi/togitic defeat giant garchomp or giant gallade with draining kiss was a lot fun

ToughAd5010

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Theumaz

We need a regional evolution for this badboy. Fight/Poison with CC/Gunk shot/Earthquake coverage and a nice ability like Dry skin/Poison touch/Adaptability/Defiant/Water absorb

SimpForSp9rk1e

So Croagunk

CreepyDentures

Toxicroak is a Poison Fighting type with Earthquake, Gunk Shot, and access to Dry Skin and poison touch. Only thing it’s missing is Close Combat. Currently uses Drain Punch or Low Kick.

TheMuon

*Razor Leaves

bitch_hoe_

>leaves

HumanTheTree

Make like a tree, and get outta here!

myothercarisaboson

Butthead

ShundonooB

For the trees can’t be harmed when the Lorax is armed

BillyAmber

heh

Nordic_Krune

Looks like someone watched the newest FalseSwipe video

winnipeginstinct

this subs almost as bad has history memes + oversimplified

Lusty-Jove

Or mythology memes + overly sarcastic productions

Nameyname7171717

Oh my god I’m just realizing how basic my YouTube subs are, why’d you do this to me?

ReasonablyOkayName

To be fair, those are all amazing content creators who deserve way more subs than they already have

Nameyname7171717

I appreciate you fellow name namer

ihavetwonoses

Or hollowknighememes + mossbag

Chilln0

No I knew about this before that video lol

Niggomitdoppelg

I thought it dropped out of OU recently

Big-zac

From my understanding it changed the meta but the meta it created it was bad in so it stopped being used. Hence why in the meme it ends with victrebell leaving.

RamPamPam8

So fucking based

ToughAd5010

What a chad

Niggomitdoppelg

Ah gotcha

Chilln0

Yeah it did but the meta evolved because of it and it dropped after that

sneakyplanner

Hence the *leaves* part. [It basically forced the metagame to change, as a lot of popular teams just got 6-0ed by victreebell after their starmie got paralyzed.](https://youtu.be/eZdjYk89T2w) But once it told everyone Exeggutor's jordans were fake on live television and made sing Chansey a thing, it just kind of became irrelevant because people started not letting their alakazam get paralyzed on turn 1.

TheCorruptedBit

>i dropped out of OU wait a minute...

[deleted]

Leaves

TaurosNU

The fact that now the metagame is hostile to Victrebeel speaks of how this funny plant shook the entire metagame.

lampstaple

Past tense of shake is shook

ScrogClemente

Bro hasn’t responded at all. You must have really shooken his confidence.

TaurosNU

TrollDespair

OriginalName18

Wasn’t it the same for Persian?

capdoesit

Persian is just a less threatening tauros that sometimes fills a niche alongside him.

BossOfGuns

Tauros at home

jenovalife1

Domestic Tauros, so a Taurus?

Accomplished_Sound28

Slash is effective 140 BP which makes it extremely strong.

16thompsonh

Along with no Earthquake or Blizzard

Root-of-Evil

Bubblebeam 😌

16thompsonh

Gen 1 coverage be like: >Let the cat shoot bubbles out of its mouth

Deathbringer2134

It's obviously rabid so it makes sense

FulcrumM2

Shame it's not 60bp so it can take advantage of Technician in later gens. It gets Water Pulse yeah but Bubblebeam is so ridiculous I want it

Big-zac

Bubblebeam only deals with the rocks nothing want to switch into blizzard.

Root-of-Evil

I wasn't being particularly serious, a 40BP non-stab move off a mediocre special obviously isn't good...

V_T_H

Bubble beam has a whole *65* base power.

Root-of-Evil

I take it back, what a powerhouse

sumr4ndo

I remember Misty destroying me with it. When I finally got it, I was underwhelmed.

ebEliminator

What happened to Bubblebeam anyway? It seems like it's not as used compared to earlier gens.

Maize-Infinite

It’s also frail as shit, hence why you never see it

jeredendonnar

Love false swipe gaming

EDDiE_SP4GHETTi

Toxic + Wrap and it’s game over for any opponent

Chilln0

Toxic sucks in gen 1 use sleep powder

MacNPieces

Venusaur leech seed would like to have a word with you

shadowman2099

::Switches out:: Noooo!

EDDiE_SP4GHETTi

Toxic get stronger each turn and with wrap, the opponent can’t attack

JKallStar

Could you tell me how you'd consistently trap a poisoned mon in a way that keep the toxic status, vecause as soon as u switch out, the toxic becomes standard poison, and its only 6%. Sleep powder both gives u plenty of opportunities to poke holes in the opposing team, and lasts ages.

EDDiE_SP4GHETTi

I don’t play competitively, so if you’re asking in regard to that then I don’t have an answer for you. The CPU usually doesn’t switch out their mons, they’ll just roll with the punches lol. Plus I preferred wrap over sleeping powder because it did some damage as well. Plus, disregarding healing items, the opposing mom could wake up from its sleep

LayZeeFox

Totes had a victreebel on my first ever run of Blue and then never touched Bellsprout again. idk why

Motor_Rub_4848

Ah yes the good ole days of stun spore/sleep powder and then constrict.

Chilln0

You mean Wrap?

L3App

> Leaves *leafs

Joelexion

Was it really that much of a champ?

Chilln0

It was ranked 8th at its peak

venoshook

Oh god I can hear the razor leaf

NiceSpring4159

Haha, leaves as in 🍃

Myrshall

Razor Leaf in RBY still terrifies me to this day

TotallyKyleXY

>crits on Razor Leaf

robsensei39

If you don’t get the grass starter, this is the move

lyingcorn

Victribell is better than venusaur in gen 1

funkfreedcp9

I mean if we're talking in game, they are even lol

Significant_Split_11

So is Exeggutor

shadowman2099

I think they're talking about playthroughs, not PvP. If I were to rank all the Grass mons for that, it would look like this Victreebel >> Vileplume = Venusaur >Tangela = Exeggutor >> Parasect

Significant_Split_11

Exeggutor gets Psychic and has ridiculously high stats in RBY. I’d still say it’s probably the best or second best for a playthrough. Definitely better than Venusaur.

shadowman2099

Slow EXP growth and arriving fairly late are very, very big set backs. Exeggutor is also TM hungry as it has no offense without Psychic, Mega Drain, or Body Slam/Double-Edge. Venusaur is therefore notably better than Exeggutor as it's early game and only needs the Body Slam TM to not be trash. Edit: Exeggutor can't learn Body Slam. It could learn Strength though.

Significant_Split_11

Maybe, but once you get Exeggutor, just bench Ivysaur/Venusaur for it. It’s way stronger and doesn’t have that shitty poison typing.

shadowman2099

This goes for most JRPGs, but benching teammates is often inefficient as all that time and effort you took with them goes to waste. Therefore, I'd rather keep a Lv 36 Venusaur than build up a Lv 27 Exeggcute. If you really want Exeggutor, it's better to start with Squirtle or Charmander as that diversifies your team and they wouldn't be fighting over each other for the same resources.

Significant_Split_11

It’s worth it when said party member has reached the peak of their usefulness a while ago, and you’re faced with one who can do all the same things but better. Just view Exeggutor as an extension of Venusaur’s work. Even with the level difference, those stats + Psychic are gonna be putting in major work.

shadowman2099

Exeggutor isn't "Venusaur but better". They're both functionally different. Venusaur is an anti Misty mon with an actually good offensive Grass move (Razor Leaf) which then can pivot into a Swords Sleeper at the end of the game. Exeggutor is more like a mid-late game anti-Psychic Psychic type with Powder moves. I'd compare it more with Hypno before I would Venusaur, and between those two I'd rather use Hypno than Exeggutor anyway (arrives earlier, no TMs needed, has less weaknesses). Also no, I would never dump my Venusaur for Exeggutor. I'd rather have an overleveled decent mon than an underleveled great mon. If I were to dump Venusaur, it would be for something that's game breakingly overpowered yet underleveled (doesn't exist in Gen 1) or better and at a comparable level (Zapdos, Articuno). Even so, I would rather have my cake and eat it too; I'd play Venusaur AND the new inclusion.

Significant_Split_11

Your loss for not dumping Venusaur for Exeggutor ig. Exeggutor does better against Koga, Sabrina, Agatha, Bruno, Lance, and the Champion. Venusaur does better against Lorelei (better, not great) and Giovanni (but Exeggutor will be 2 and OHKOung everything in there anyways. Not like Grass type attacking moves are all that useful anyways, especially compared to STAB Psychic off 125 base special. And Exeggutor vs Hypno is moreso a battle of whether you want to save TMs or not. They’ll both be using Hypnosis, but Exeggutor is way stronger in both attacking sides. And Exeggutor’s stats mean that at level 27 it’s going to be hanging in there just fine.
